Five

A 5:30am taxi ride to The Wall Friday morning was the beginning of my 18 hour day. Not one to pass up an opportunity. Or to pass on an excuse to miss out on precious hours of sleep. 3 cabs carried the 12 of us across the city to the tunnels under The Wall. Within these tunnels is is believed that you are closest to the inner sanctuary of the first and second temples. Besides its religious significance, it is a engineering marvel. The portion of The Wall viewable underground by these tunnels contains a stone over 570 tons which is believed to be the heaviest object to be lifted by humans without machinery. Impressive. Indeed. Above ground at sunrise was also worth the early wake up call.
